I have been going through some of my old work from 1989, the good old days at Michaelis Fine Art Faculty, UCT. Those were the days where all you had to do was pitch up every day at the studio and create art. Wow. Why did we ever complain, it seems like heaven now!

Always interesting to see the progression and fine tuning that makes us who we are today. Sometimes I do feel that is not a total reflection of capability but more a hint of what one is capable of doing. What is holds us back is time and the pressure in life…to really be free in oneself and in art to achieve maximum! many a creative will never reach the ultimate creative dream, in my case the limit of financial resources restricts the dream of full potential and accomplishment..i could be so much further if….
Too true. Ones responsibilities overtake your passions.
Good memories indeed. Imagine if we could repeat that state now with all that we know – a year or two of studio work with no other responsibilities. I really like seeing these paintings and remember them well.
Thanks Kirsten!
