“I once was there”
This was again another old canvas where layers of previous artwork created lovely and interesting texture for me to integrate into a new work.
This image reminds me of a mountain in the distance, a mirage of another time and place. A separate micro universe where things are just “being”, unaware of our city hustle and bustle.
I have grown from treating oils in a very tight and small scale manner to really making all kinds of interesting mixes and concoctions! I find it a very pliable and lively medium to work with, a bit smelly, but its fresh and intense colour makes up for any olfactory discomfort.
You just have to love that red!
