Towards the end of June this year I started getting back into some larger scale acrylic painting on un-primed canvas. This was my forte in my early years of painting. It has taken me a while to come full circle to where I started 20 years ago, and it has been quite a process with some great results, frustration and flops along the way! But, I am excited about what is still to come. I love the larger canvasses and the fact that there is so much freedom with the medium. You can use thick paste, pallette knives, glaze, washes, ink, charcoal and more all together in one picture. Its a bit like cooking or baking, take a little of this, add water, stir and go for it!
Here are pictures of 4 paintings that are finished and some of the process as it happens in the studio. I hope you enjoy the pictures!

Hi Junette.
Thanks for keeping me in the loop.We are only here for a short period this time. We will be doing several butterfly field trips up in Namaqualand. Everything depends on the weather. We are due to go away on Thursday. I am unable to commit to any other arrangements as I have promised I will accompany him. We only have another 6 weeks with a great to accomplish. [ Alan being 82 is fit and well but has to pace himself]
Unfortunately my artists skills have withered away as I am involved with other activities. But I still hope to attend some of your workshops at a future date.
Speak to you soon
Best wishes to Andy
