We have reached the end of another busy year!
For me 2016 was the year to stay single-minded. My focus was intentionally narrow (with very little other work) in order to build up momentum in production and growth in terms of my subjectmatter and technique. I have applied to many galleries in and outside of Cape Town, with rejections from some and acceptance from other galleries. I feel my work has reached a new level of depth and am pleased with what has been achieved in 2016.
I have paintings up for the Christmas season in three galleries, whereas last year this time no work was out there. Paintings on exhibition are:
one at the Association of Visual Arts’ Summer Salon Exhibition (until mid January 2017, Church Street, Cape Town),
six pieces at the IS Gallery on Main Road, Franschhoek (also up until mid January 2017),
and lastly, the painting that went to London earlier this year is up at a Christmas exhibition in London – and hopefully it will sell this time round!
Since July I have attended weekly life drawing classes (a fantastic discipline) at Bright Day Studio in Saltriver. There I have met several lovely artists who give valuable feedback and critique and who are also trying to get their stuff out there.
Thanks for all the comments and the positive feedback, it has been great to hear your thoughts on my work throughout the year!
Brilliant aplication of your artistic talent a Nettie.
,with such determination.Notwithstanding your medical interruptions.
You certainly can claim victory over 2016. Here’s believing for even furher afield & brighter horizons 2017.
Time to relax and enjoy the break 🙂
