Destruction and Decay – Hope and Beauty:
The story of my work lies in the process. I make, I destroy, I apply and I remove.
In our transient world time runs out like sand in an hour glass. People, things and events exist but for a moment in time. Yet when their time has passed, an etherial elelement remains, quiet ghosts. Some memories or remnants are delightful and captivating, but at the other end of the spectrum can be terrifying and ugly.
Colours, figures, faces, wild uninhibited nature and human-made things play in my mind. My process expresses the state of flux in and the decay of the world, as well as the natural beauty in things. Through layers of paint and texture, traces of something barely recognisable is left behind. Images morph and dissolve. I oscillate between destruction and beauty, chaos and hope, the recognisable and the abstract.
I see both extremes, and I choose to live in hope.
“What are we, that You remember us? What is all humanity that You take notice of it?”David
