Teaching Art at Tembaletu School for Disabled kids

by Janette Wright / Thursday, 25 October 2012 / Published in Uncategorized

I volunteer once a week as art teacher at Tembaletu School for Disabled kids, here are a few pics from Wednesday morning’s art class. We “discovered” by chance how to make coloured playdough.

It all started as a papier mache exercise. I soaked a whole lot of newspaper in my basin, then I mashed it up with my stick-mixer (food processor). We added LOADS of flour and arcrylic paint for colour. The kids loved it, the only thing is that it has a limited shelf life and needs to be refridgerated. When the shapes dried out, we applied arcrylic glaze.
